Norwegian Dole Horse Breeding in Maine | A Rare Draft Legacy

We are a small-scale breeding farm in Cherryfield, Maine, devoted to one of the rarest draft breeds in the world: the Norwegian Dole horse. With their feathered legs, thick manes, and calm presence, these powerful cold-blooded horses are as striking as they are steady. Known for their gentle temperament and versatility, the Dole is nearly unknown in the U.S.—but unforgettable once you meet one.

We breed the traditional way: carefully selecting stallions and mares each spring and letting them spend the summer together in genuine pasture partnership. It’s slow, natural, and deeply rooted in Norwegian custom—a rhythm that honors the breed, not the market.

Because we breed with intention, our foals are few—and often spoken for before birth. If you’re looking for something rare, grounded, and meaningful to be part of, you might just fall in love here.

Lundes Storm
2012, 3pr.

Storm is the kind of stallion that immediately puts people at ease. Calm, steady, and impressively grounded, he’s what we lovingly call “bomb-proof.” Whether he’s working around children,

well behaved around mares, or simply being handled day-to-day—his manners never waver. He’s soft without being dull, sweet without being passive, and stable in a way that makes you exhale.

If you’re looking for predictability in temperament without compromising on beauty or presence, Storm delivers. With abundant feathering, a thick mane, and a conformation that’s true to the Dole standard, he’s as striking as he is trustworthy. And with a lifetime breeding license behind his name, his quality speaks for itself—on paper and in person.

We’re proud to have him at the heart of our program—and happy to answer any questions about his availability. Contact us here.

Bekk Basse
2023

Still young and full of promise, Bekk Basse is showing all the right signs of becoming an exceptional example of the Dole breed. With striking feather, a full mane, and a strong, balanced frame, he’s

developing into a breed-typical stallion with a more athletic edge—making him an exciting prospect for those looking for a versatile, all-around partner with riding potential.

He is energetic, alert, and endlessly curious—always the first to investigate, never the last to try. He’s brave, social, and tuned in to his surroundings in a way that feels more intelligent than reactive. He’s still growing—both physically and mentally—but the foundation is there: a bold spirit paired with a trainable nature. Exactly what you’d hope for in a future breeding stallion or riding companion.

Bekk Basse isn’t of breeding age yet, but he’s one to watch. He’ll be available for stud starting in 2026. If you want to follow his journey or learn more. Contact us here.

Livs Gulltind
2024

Livs Gulltind is our youngest stallion prospect, and while he’s got a long way to grow, he’s already showing signs of the good stuff: curious, social, and always the first to come say hi

(or investigate whatever just moved). He’s sweet, bold, and honestly… kind of adorable.

The feathering is already coming in strong, and so is the personality. We’ve got high hopes for this one—and a few years to enjoy watching him grow into it.

Livs Gulltind will be available from 2027—until then, follow along as he finds his stride.
